One of the missions of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis is family support. For our organization, family support can start as early as a prenatal diagnosis. Our Expectant Parent section provides information and resources specific to those who are expecting a baby with Down syndrome. Many of our families find out that their baby has Down syndrome at birth. Our New Parent section is the spot to find out about our New Parent packet and our New Parent Support Network.
We are very fortunate to have a Down Syndrome Center in St. Louis. It is located at St. Louis Children's Hospital and has seen over 400 patients with Down syndrome since it opened in 2005.
The Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis has several Community Groups in the area. The purpose of these groups is to provide education, support and socialization to families.
For our older teens and adults with Down syndrome, we offer a conference in conjunction with our annual family conference in the spring and through our Healthy Lifestyles program, we offer classes throughout the year consisting of exercise and healthy eating.
